Stuck in a (hair) rut
Do you ever feel like you're stuck in a rut? A HAIR rut? I feel like this has been true for me and MANY women and it's a hard one to get out of. Sometimes I think the hardest thing to change is our hair. It's our security blanket. It generally stays the same. Sometimes, for years. It's so scary to look in the mirror and see it a different color or shorter than you've ever gone before. I get it.
I was one of those people for a long time and only ever wore my hair down. I hated it up for some reason, but now I am trying to embrace it. Sometimes I feel more "exposed" when I pull it back. Is that weird? Is it totally normal? I don't know. All I know is it needs to happen. I am trying to be more confident in my choices and even though I feel strange with my hair back, I think it looks chic and makes a statement, whether it's pulled back neatly or messily... I like it all.
What is that one thing you're afraid to try? A different color? A certain cut you've always dreamed of but were too afraid to go for? Try baby steps if you're nervous. Honestly, try parting it on the side if you're a straight and narrow girl. Add some slight curls. Or if you always curl it, try pulling it back for a simple, chic look. Sometimes the hardest thing is just getting out of our heads and stepping OUT of our hair rut...don't you think?
