Purple shampoo

Now that I have cool toned, platinum blonde hair I am determined to keep it looking great for as long as possible.  Enter purple shampoo.  I have colored my hair for years and had highlights many times.  What I didn't realize is that whether you have cool blonde, warm blonde, or even just a few highlights, there are ways to attack the brassy, yellowish tones that tend to appear after a few weeks.  I only wish I had known about purple shampoo sooner! It is amazing!  It's like the purple magically cancels out the yellow tones.  My current favorite is this Wella SP Silver blond shampoo.  It actually smells nice and light and makes my hair look so much better! One little trick I learned....if you really want to be rid of the yellowish brassiness, apply the shampoo onto dry hair.  Cover it in 4 sections, making sure each section of hair is completely saturated.  Wait 10 minutes.  Next, hop in the shower, rinse the shampoo, and apply your conditioner per usual.   You will be amazed at the difference.  I have been doing this once a week.  If you're on a tight budget, Shimmer Lights by Clairol works also. It's not quite as good though and the smell is kind of strong.  Both work though and I highly recommend a purple shampoo to all of you out there who color your hair!

*SIDE NOTE:  Don't let it freak you out if is says it's for white or silver hair.  The main thing is it cancels out the brassiness.  It won't turn your hair any crazy or weird color!
