A touch of vintage

I've always loved vintage inspired looks.  I immediately think of a bold red lip, finger waves, brimmed hats, fur coats, pencil skirts, class pumps, the list goes on and on.  And let's not forget the headpieces, fascinators, and veiled hats.  The 20's inspired headpieces with feathers and jewels.  And the white gloves! The white gloves that every classic woman seemed to wear.  Though I love the current trends and enjoy partaking in the latest in fashion, I also adore the vintage pieces that you can add into your current style.  My husband always tells me I should have been born in a different era.  I think I owe this to my mom, who always insisted I watch Cary Grant in all the great classics when I was growing up.  The bishops wife, Notorious, That touch of mink, An affair to remember.  These women had great style.  They were strong and bold and beautiful. If you haven't seen any of these movies, I highly suggest sitting with a glass of wine one night and partaking in a few.  Audrey Hepburn is of course worth mentioning as well.  A classic beauty with great style.  I think one of the things that draws me to these eras and types of clothing is the simplicity.  I am rarely drawn to patterns or too much color, but rather simple pieces. Things that say sophistication to me.  Some may think that is boring, but that to me is what being a woman is all about! I love fashion of all decades and probably always will.  I guess it's part of who I am.

I pulled a few pieces from my closet that say "vintage" to me.  Some of them you've seen on the blog before, but I wanted to address them again when pertaining to that vintage feel.  A classic pencil skirt.  (I love the small slit in the back of the wool one.) Pumps. A touch of faux fur. A wide brimmed hat.  And of course, a red lip.  Another fun way to play up the vintage feel is with jewelry.  Classic diamond studs or a long strand of pearls.  A pave diamond earring.  Add some unexpected, beautiful white gloves. The possibilities are endless!
