Let's talk about hair color

Over the past decade, (much to my mother's disliking) I have colored my hair.  Black, brown, red, platinum, you name it, I've tried it!  I take my hair color seriously and treat as a way to express myself and my current style, just like I do with my wardrobe.

As the years have passed by and motherhood has become my new normal, I have tried to stay true to myself and what I love while remaining somewhat realistic about the maintenance and free time that I have.  For a while ombre highlights/color on the end was a perfect fit for me.  It never felt QUITE right though until I discovered the beloved method of COLOR MELTING!  THIS, my friends, is the best technique ever.  It is applied on wet hair and the color is combed out to the ends so that it naturally blends into your lighter ends without any harsh or obvious lines.

Going for a color melt is a great thing if you are tired of constantly coloring your hair and you want to let your roots grow out.  It's also great if you are like me and just want a fun color on your ends, but don't want the constant maintenance and root touch ups that go along with a full head of platinum blonde! (or whatever color you have chosen)

If you do want to try a color melt, make sure that you do your research and go to someone who specializes in this technique and knows what they're doing!  Local friends, Brittany Byrd is awesome at this technique.  If you live elsewhere, I can't stress enough, do your research!  Scour instagram.  Ask your friends.  If you see someone out and about and you love their hair, stop them and ask them where they go.  That's what I did, and it led me to Brittany!
