My visit to The Cura Co- featuring their This Matters Collab with Boma

Hey, y’all! It’s been a minute. I feel like life these past 12 months has been such a whirlwind. Covid, the kids doing school over zoom, starting my new job…what a crazy crazy year it has been for us all. I will say though…through this bizarre and hard year I’ve found so much clarity. I have continued to find myself, to stay grounded, and to realize that using my voice is an absolute must. There were many times over the years when I’d try to speak my truth and stand up for what was right, but I’d feel silenced by those around me. I’d feel as though I didn’t have the right to speak. I know I’ve touched on this a bit, but living in the south nearly broke me. I felt as though I was suffocating and yet COULD NOT speak up for myself and what I knew was right.

I’ve always wanted to be well liked, (by friends and family) but I’ve now learned that those meant to be in my life will APPLAUD my speaking up. They will cheer me on despite our differences and would never want me to be silent. I believe we all have a right to speak up for what we believe in. If we are doing it in a kind way, there is nothing wrong with it!

This past weekend I had the extreme honor of getting to know Kiko at The Cura Collective. Once I had read about their “This Matter Collection” with Boma jewelry, it became high on my list of places to go. I knew I’d connect to the store after reading a bit about it and let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint. If you’re in Seattle, you simply MUST make a stop. If you’re not in the pnw, you can order any of the pieces online. I added a little video I took while in The Cura Collective to give you a better idea of the beautifully curated pieces you can find there.

This year I will continue to stand up for what I believe is right. I hope that I will give others the courage to do the same. Staying silent or saying “you’re not racist” isn’t enough. Looking away won’t make it go away. Let’s continue to have hard conversations and make better choices. We are only growing and becoming better by pushing ourselves into the uncomfortable and unknown. I rather like it here. It’s the only space where we can grow and learn and be the very vest versions of ourselves. XOXO. I appreciate, love, and respect you all more than you know.
