Sunday at home

Simple look from Sunday.  Sometimes I feel so busy and rushed and compelled to find that perfect photo shoot location that I forget I can just step outside and take one in my front yard!  Mae actually took this, which I adore.  She has been really into photography the past few weeks and is constantly taking pictures around the house, outside, pretty much anywhere we let her.  She always insists that SHE can just take all the photos for the blog.  So yesterday, I let her.

I hope you all have a lovely week!

Friday favorite

I LOVE this flat cap so much.  The funny thing is, I actually bought it for Tim a few years back because I thought he'd look completely adorable in it!  He does look good, but never really wears it so I decided to put it to good use.  It's a fun hat on those gross rainy days when you want your hair out of your face.  I also think it's a great alternative to a baseball or wide brimmed hat if you're looking for something slightly different.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.  As always, thanks for stopping by HW!!

Edgy with a touch of glam

I love this look because it's comfortable yet a little more fun than your basic jeans and tee outfit.  Grab a stack of bracelets and some pretty heels to elevate some simple pieces.  Top it off with a blazer and you're good to go!

Purples & plums

I love a good purple/plum toned matte lip for fall.  So pretty and a nice change from the summer colors.  This Gerard Cosmetics shade is in my top 3 for fall, as it is bold, doesn't fade, and doesn't transfer.  It literally lasts all day!!

Matte liquid lipstick in the color underworld.

Lazy day at the lake

I always feel happiest when I'm by the water.  This probably has to do with the fact that I grew up close to Lake Washington and the ocean.  Luckily Lake Norman is just across the street from us here in NC.  People always say, "why do you live by the lake?  Do you have a boat?"  I always chuckle to myself and can enjoy the water, calmness and beauty without being ON a boat.

This is a SUPER casual look, but I don't usually blog about leggings so I figured it was time.  I hope you all are having a lovely Saturday!

Alo yoga leggings (these are currently 30% off!!)

"Sister" faux leather jacket (my other half will be appearing soon, so stay tuned!!)

Taking my own advice...

Happy Thursday, friends!  When I first started my blog, I talked a lot about motherhood and how I felt like it related to my fashion choices.  I think that a lot of moms (including myself) feel like they don't deserve to look nice.  I don't know why this happens exactly, but somewhere between childbirth and late night feedings, spit up, daycare drop offs, preschool drop offs, room parent duties, and soccer practice and homework, we lose sight of who we once were and what it's like to feel good and/or confident.

I always feel a little better when I put on a piece of jewelry or lipstick.  I don't know why.  I know it may seem trivial or shallow or stupid to some, but its symbolic of so many things to me.  I started this blog with SO MUCH in mind.  It wasn't JUST about the clothes.  It's about having a voice.  Feeling we're worth it.  Embracing motherhood yet still holding onto a part of what we once were.  I LOVE my kids so much it hurts...I have their names tattooed on my arm for goodness sake, but one day I woke up and I knew I needed more to feel completely like Anna again.

What is it for you?  Maybe being able to go for a run in the morning?  Wearing your favorite heels?  Picking up an old hobby?  (I did that too and have never felt MORE like my old self!)  I want you all to get more from Honestly West.  Maybe you don't like everything I wear, and that's okay.  I want to INSPIRE you to be the best version of yourself.  Whether that means you shower every 3 days, or every day, I don't care.  I never judge.  I have so much love for you all, even if you live your life completely different from the way I do.  We're all in this together. conclusion, I will remember that I am worth it and wear that extra something today that makes me feel special.  I feel like I sort of lost sight of that for a while. (Thank you to my friend Sara for reminding me.)  I deserve it.  And so do you.  Grab that little extra today that makes you feel a little better.  Whether it's a necklace or earrings or your favorite perfume.  Let it light up your day today.

Let's go down to the tennis court

Going back to the basics for this simple yet chic fall look.  Silk nod to a pajama top, distressed denim, fun leopard booties all pulled together with a classic trench.  It actually FEELS like fall today, and I am so darn excited about it.

I hope you all have a lovely, lovely week.  Thanks for stopping by HW!!
